If there is one business icon that works to make the world a better place, that would be Shelley Zalis, the CEO of the Female Quotient. Zalis and her team at the Female Quotient work with companies and business leaders to improve equality in the workplace, tackling issues like the gender wage gap, stereotyping and negative company culture.
Shelley Zalis’s Inspiration
Before starting the Female Quotient, Zalis noticed gender inequality issues in her previous position as founder and CEO of an online research company, an experience that would lead her to form an organization to eliminate bias against women. Of the 25 CEOs in her industry, she was the only female and was known as being the “chief troublemaker” for breaking traditional corporate rules she considered unreasonable. As CEO, she recognized that there were female-specific qualities of hers that helped her be a successful leader, shaping her company’s culture for the better. Today she’s inspiring other women to cultivate these feminine qualities to become better leaders and create better work environments. You go, girl!
Our favourite quote is:
“I believe that the best leaders are team players. Not only does having a diversity of mindset mean we bring better ideas to the table, but it’s a fact that more diverse thinking leads to greater revenue, growth, and profits. We are better together.”
